Large fireplace but fire not lit. Sconces on walls but no candles. Had to change dinner time booked as they needed to concentrate on booking for 30. Told us we shouldn't be too much of a problem as only 4 of us.!
Beautiful historic hotel with great ambiance and friendly, helpful staff. Have stayed several times before and the superior rooms are a delight to stay in. Unfortunately you had a wedding on this time and we were unable to get such a nice room.
The food was disappointing. Previous experiences were far better, however, it was more of a "budget" menu than in the past.
Staff were very efficient and very friendly. The breakfast room was very nice, as was the breakfast.
The rooms were slightly tired looking with small maintenance jobs required such as a broken plug chain in the sink. I think the 4 star rating is pushing it a bit too but overall we all liked the hotel. Repairing this would be a 5 minute job and it seems strange not to do these small repairs.
We were delighted with all the aspects of or stay no complaints
The food it was excellent my compliments to the chef, very good
I really like the Hotel staff, friendly and always concerned about the guests.
The bedroom was small and didn't had a bath, just a shower. Although I liked the Hotel staff , they are not enough for the hotel, we had to wait and wait to have dinner.
The Bathroom was good.
We left early and paid without staying the 2nd night. While the room was large, we were charged 60GBP for a very narrow fold out bed from a single chair for our 15 year old daughter, which we had to ask to be made up, even though we reserved a family room. Our double bed on one side had two large depressions (more like holes) in the mattress indicating it was very old, my husband had a very uncomfortable sleep. They did not tell us that they lock the outer door of the hotel at 10pm or that our key did not open the door. We arrived back at 10:30 from dinner and had to knock on the doors and windows to get in. There was a phone number on the door, but we left our phone charging in our room, however we thought it presumptuous that we were expected to make an international call, to get back into our hotel. Then the next morning at breakfast, they did not have a table set up for us. When we attempted to sit at the only table that could accommodate us, which was set for 4 people, we were told we could not sit there as it was set for other guests. We asked where our table was and were told we needed to talk to reception. They quickly placed 3 settings on a table set for 2 people which would normally be fine with us, but it was tiny. We had to put coffee cups and other dishes on the window ledge to fit our main plate in front of us when our cooked breakfast arrived. The lady who served us, did apologise and promised to rectify the next day, but that was enough for us. The hotel was also very dark and damp smelling. It was no where near the standard of the four stars advertised on its front door. We went instead to a hotel nearby, Coul House and it was such a difference. It was 3 stars and less expensive and was a beautiful place in all respects, service, rooms, food, reception areas. It also had beautiful landscaped gardens. We could not understand how the Tulloch could retain its four stars, with Coul House in the neighbourhood?
The location and staying in an ancient castle
This is the ancestral home of my wife, who is a Tulloch Davidson. We were surprised, however, when we did not see much in the way of Davidson memorabilia, or items of the Davidson Clan for sale in the hotel. Otherwise, a great stay, wonderful facility.
Two people in my party came down with food poisoning (not from the castle) and I cannot tell you how incredible the staff was to us. The castle was great however the staff made it over the top. The food was fantastic. My favorite part was exploring the castle because it is so steeped in history. I have travelled alot and by far the staff at the castle was the most accomodating and welcoming I have encountered. Special thanks to Robert and Uan.
We loved the fact we were living in history and were most impressed with the comfort. Both dinner and breakfast were great and, food-wise, your Chef makes absolutely the very best chips we have ever tasted. This might seem a little low on the scale of gourmet cooking but is a Gold Star in the world of chips.
We felt the pillows were of poor standard and too "hard" and would have expected complimentary tissues in room, although the other in-room services were well received.
an excellent hotel in a secluded spot but still very convenient to all the necessary shops in dingwall.enjoyed an excellent meal and wonderful accomodation and although our stay was for only one night would certainly consider staying again whether for again one night or even longer
sign posting to car park and entrance could be a little clearer but a minor complaint.also being able to have a premeal drink while chosing our meal rather than at our table or in bar which is upstairs, again a minor point
Great four-poster bed room. Lovely view
Staff were a bit disconnected. I thought it was poor that we were not showed to our room considering that it was a bit of a rabbit warren in layout
Friendliness of the staff, went out of their way to fit in a big family bar supper
helpfull and plesent staff
